About www.eepsites.com

eepSites is a public interface to a search engine across public eepsites. Nothing "private" is revealed. I2P provides anonymity; not necessarily secrecy or privacy. If you want a secret or private eepsite:

1) Don't publish your key in hosts.txt.
2) Secure the site using standard (.htaccess, whatever) protection mechanisms.

We respect “robots.txt” which allows you to tell the search engine to skip/ignore sites, directories or pages. We also respect the <meta name="robots" content="noarchive"> tag placed between the <head></head> tags to inhibit caching. Please note that there is no "noarchive" value in the robots.txt specifications, just "noindex" and "follow". The "noarchive" tag is supported in the HTML tag.

The current version of the spider engine is identified by the string (without quotes): "Mozilla/4.5 (compatible; Obtanium Spider 0.11; Windows)". Note that this may change in future releases.

If you are concerned about our index of your site, please send us the URL so that we can verify that the robots.txt file is working correctly. Given the potentially large volume of such notifications it processes, VISI does not respond to status inquiries made in connection with any individual notification or series of notifications.

If you’re concerned that the mpaa/riaa/etc can tell which eepsites have torrents or other things, well, then believe us, the mpaa/riaa/etc will just run i2p themselves and they don't need www.eepsites.com. In fact, the mpaa/riaa/etc would never use www.eepsites.com since we respect the robot and noarchive directives. www.eepsites.com does not increase or decrease the ability to attack anonymity. Attacks that are possible with this site are equally possible without this site.

The goal behind eepSites is for potential I2P users to see what is available within the network, and for users within I2P to find sites anonymously.

This site provides a web interface to a database about files available within the anonymous I2P network. A dedicated, automated web crawler keeps the database up-to-date. VISI handles all DMCA notifications it receives in accordance with our established procedures. This site supports ICRA labeling.
